#14 – Refining My Leadership Style: Two Experiments in Progress

This week’s session with Sushma challenged me to think practically about what it means to grow as a leader. Not just in theory. In action. I’m learning that leadership isn’t about being a finished product. It’s about refining along the way. Based on what I took from the session and my own LTI profile, I’m committing to two experiments over the next couple of weeks.

1. Show up more openly in collaborative spaces
According to my LTI results, I tend to lean on the more reserved side. I’m comfortable working independently and value structure. But in group settings, especially with people I don’t know well, I can come across as distant. I want to change that. I plan to speak up earlier in meetings, express alignment when I feel it, and let my energy show more naturally. The goal isn’t to be someone I’m not. It’s to be a little more visible and present.

2. Treat feedback like data, not criticism
As someone who leans toward analysis and structure, I tend to dwell on mistakes longer than I need to. That internal dialogue can sometimes hold me back. I want to start treating feedback the same way I treat audit evidence or strategy inputs. It’s not personal. It’s information. This shift in mindset will help me move forward with clarity and self-compassion.

These are small, intentional adjustments. But I believe they’ll make a real difference in how I lead and manage over time.
