When I started my MBA journey, I knew it would stretch me—but I didn’t realize just how much it would grow me. Now that I’ve completed my first term at UNC Kenan-Flagler, I’m entering my second with a deep sense of purpose, momentum, and a real hunger to evolve—not just as a professional, but as a person and a leader.
One of the cornerstone courses this term is MBA 801: Leading and Managing, taught by Professor Terence McElroy. From his very first message, I could tell this wasn’t going to be your average leadership course. This class is designed with working professionals in mind—people like me, already juggling demanding roles, yet still craving growth and deeper alignment.
This course isn’t about theory—it’s about application. It’s about practicing leadership in real time, with the challenges we’re facing right now in our work and lives. From self-awareness and social intelligence to coaching others and leading through adversity, the topics are real, the tools are practical, and the growth is personal.
Why I’m Starting This Blog Series
As part of this course, we’re expected to complete a Leadership Journal—reflection prompts that track our growth and insights over the next three months. But instead of keeping those thoughts tucked away in a private doc, I decided to share them here.
Welcome to Power in Pink: My MBA Leadership Journal—a raw, reflective, and real-time series where I’ll document the lessons I’m learning, the ways I’m evolving, and how I’m bringing these tools into every area of my life.
What You’ll Find Here
Each post will explore a core concept from class—whether it’s:
Leading with authenticity
Coaching others with intention
Navigating conflict
Goal-setting that actually works
Or building resilience from the inside out
I’ll be sharing my real-life takeaways, how I’m applying them, and where I’m still growing. If you’ve ever been curious about what it really looks like to level up as a leader while managing a full, messy, beautiful life—this space is for you.

Why This Matters to Me
Growth isn’t new to me. I’ve always been someone who invests in becoming better, stronger, more grounded, and more intentional. But this season feels different. It feels aligned. Focused. And very, very pink.
This blog isn’t just a class assignment—it’s a commitment. To show up. To reflect. To lead out loud. And to invite you along the way.
Let’s grow together.
